Unique Pumpkin Baby Hat Pattern

 Hi all.....
Don't get confused with the title this is just a photograph for all you peeping bloggers.
As the rule of blogging says..show a picture. So there it is...a Zinnia..Ooooo!

Okay all you little sneaky people...popping in my blog to see what's new!

Well this time I have something really cool! Cleaning out my studio I came across an old page of a pattern someone gave me awhile back. Who...heck I don't remember...I can't remember what I ate yesterday let alone where the heck this pattern came from...all I know...
It's a little pumpkin baby hat, only this one is unique. I made one the last week only didn't capture a photograph before I sent in to a friend, to give to another friend who had a baby. Gosh, I am glad that's over with....

Anyway somewhere along the line I am sure to slip a stitch as usual.
It's in this gals DNA to knit and always leave a mistake in creating, not to mention slipping stitches in life.

Should you be one of those sneaky little people popping in and reading my blog, then you understand my slipped stitches in life. If not and your new to reading my blog, start back at the beginning, I'm more than sure you will get a laugh. Thus, understanding what I mean.

Alright..lets get busy, you can knit along with me, however you must promise you will pay it forward. Every hat you knit for your child, you must knit one for a preemie, find a NICU near you and send it to them. More than one I am sure would be welcome.

Interesting Things

One thing you must know about me...you'll never know when I will pop in and post nearly anything I find interesting. That's why I love being spontaneous! And, especially since the kids are gone, Whee! I can eat anything, do anything, go anywhere I want, anytime! Yuppie!!! And the human race is convinced children are fun.... sure...it's putting up with them as they grow into adults that's annoying!!
Okay let's move on.... there are many things I find interesting about life...how the older we get the faster time seems to fly, how the days seem shorter, how I sit here typing.. my eyes taking a break to wonder around the room... it feels as though I haven't aged at all. It's hard to believe I have come this far in life, that the years have gone so quickly. But there is an advantage now... NO KIDS... and that's the perks.

It's also hard to believe knitting cable pillows seems to fascinate me this year, and the fact the Holidays are right around the corner. Oh...I can knit whenever and however long I want without hearing MOMMY...it's so incredibly quite.
Doesn't it seem like the Holidays were just here not long ago?

It's also interesting how I can enlarge the first two photographs and none after...look at the lampshade on this one, who would have thought to buy premade ruffles and attach them on a lampshade? So adorable. This is from Jennifer Holmes blog dear lillie. Her home is just my style, all neutrals. It's so easy to add any pop of color for any season. Another blog I am head over heals over is The Nester so many amazing ideas done so inexpensive. Love her home go ahead take a peek.

Speaking of a pop of color...red is sure the color that pops! I have a love/ hate relationship with red, I love to look at it...yet...couldn't live with it daily. Have you noticed the round number with the cute pocket for candy behind it. There actually for a countdown to a handmade felt Christmas Tree. Turn the number around and eat the candy! Love the idea, don't you?

Look at that wreath! Just stunning isn't it? Although there seems to be a lot of them made with aged paper, this is my favorite so far...

See the white ornaments here...they are actually paper mache painted white with gold glitter. So interesting and inexpensive!

On this page I just absolutely love, love, love, that chair! Very creative with the tree, the way the garland is aged paper cut in the V shape at the bottom.

And now for a drum roll please...Don't you just love the color of these cabinets and the amazing detail and color of the kitchen table set. Now, that kitchen color combination I could live with...
Yummy isn't it! Oh by the way, the magazine is Better Homes and Garden Christmas addition.

Now I am off to do whatever I want, whenever I want, in my little own little nest. Keep an eye out for my next post and my Tah Dah moments.

Until I pop in again... which could be anytime...have a spontaneous day!
Life goes by way to fast not too!

Amazing Etsy Handmade

Browsing Etsy today, I found some handmade knitted and crocheted items. I just love handmade items especially from yarn.
This is one of them by the shop Lovelycrochet aren't these just amazing?

This colorful knitted duo from the shop bythemill is ohh...so amazing! Don't you agree? The color combination says happy and the little bits of black make the items pop. Not to mention the photograph itself is beautiful.

Look at the color combination of this hand knitted cotton sweater from LilyCraftdiy there soothing and just right for blue jeans. The detail in the sweater is interesting and well defined. I love how the sweater is displayed with all the props, it give you a better sense of how the sweater will appear with when combined with jeans and accessories. Well done don't you agree?

I had to add these hand knitted mittens of a hedgehog from BucaJLucka which are so adorable.
Hedgehogs seem to be a popular animal among so many on Etsy. I love how there photographed with a peach!

Stumbling across these knitted socks which caught my attention asap from sintijastudio with the colors of cream and gray, and of course, fair isle knitting. Something I want to learn...and have tried a few times not without some success. It's the working of two yarns and my fingers that get in the way.
There is something I have always wondered about...why would someone want to knit socks? I mean... I totally understand there handmade...yet.. it seems easier to buy them at the store.
Now don't get me wrong the socks above are stunning..I guess knitting socks for me is not my thing.
Maybe that's it!

This shop on Etsy ohmayzee has a lot of different dyi patterns. I love the bright colors she uses to display how the finish patterns will appear. This shop has a lot of fun ideas which would make nice stocking stuffers.

There seems to be a lot of knitted bunnies on Etsy this one is from The Hunny Bunny Company I am always so amazed by UK or for that anywhere in Europe at just how good they are at knitting. It seems to come natural to them. Not, that there aren't amazing knitters in the U.S. yet one must agree how much they do knit and crochet in Europe. Often makes me almost wish I was born there just for that purpose...oh...and there amazing landscape and architectural views too!

Then there is me..yes..I have knitted some bunnies over a few winters. The original pattern is from FuzzyMitten I bought the pattern off of Etsy awhile back before she narrowed down selling on Etsy. I played around with it and tweaked it a bit with the ears and color inside. Made the sweater you see as I said above I have done some fair isle knitting.

I am a little proud, yes, and a tad sad...why...most of these babies are gone. When my grand babies or my daughter who hasn't decided if she wants babies, stops by, they disappear one by one. The only comforting part of them leaving...they are going to good homes.

Hope you enjoyed my little tour of Etsy..I plan on doing more based on knitting and crocheting. Can you guess what will be next?

Oh, and thank you to all of the talents artist we appreciate all of you!

Fair Isle knitting

I bought this book the other day, I've wanted to learn more about Fair Isle knitting. But I must add   the soothing comfort of the cover could also be to blame for catching my eye....
This book is just amazing, not only in patterns, but, the photographing is simply delicious.

Especially the colors, they offer a sense of warmth with the season of fall upon us.

I do believe I have seen this book before...the scarf, the set of gloves, look so familiar somehow.
I am drawn to the aged, rustic appearance, they seem as though they were made centuries ago. The colors all blending so beautifully...yes...this is a set I am going to try. I think I will do the scarf first to get an easier feel for the technique. More so... since I haven't knitted gloves before.

Have done a couple projects which had a small amount of this design technique, but nothing quite like what your viewing.

When I begin the set... I will pop in and let you know and indeed keep you posted on the progress.
Wish me luck as I am sure to be slipping a lot of stitches on this one. And, I will smile, and just keep going until they are done.

Fabulous Yarn

I stumbled across this yarn from a blog I read quite often, called  Little Cotton Rabbits
A lovely blog just too hard to resist with an incredible woman who does amazing knitting.
I did the scarf in the same color (split pea) as I am a lover of all things green, and stitch (moss stitch) only I used quince&co. puffin it's a plump, chunky, single ply yarn, spun from 100% American Wool Fleece.
Amazing to work with, soft, and knits beautifully!

I also purchased split pea in Lark, this is a smooth, round, wool yarn, that showcases any detailed stitching. I am yet to work with this yarn and expect it to knit quite the same as Puffin, and in fact, am knitting my first pair of welted fingerless gloves ever. Actually my first pair of gloves of any kind.

This is truly the first time I have splurged on an upscale yarn, am so happy I did!
Can't wait to knit the gloves...
Sometimes we just need to treat ourselves to the best! Don't you think?

Cable Knitting

Although it's technically still summer, I find myself doing more knitting then normal this time of year. And, cable knitting seems to be my stitch of choice.

It's a gloomy, gray day today... feeling a bit like fall.. Having all this strange weather I managed to get a lot of knitting done. I usually start one project and jump right into a new without completing the old. This year I decided to discipline myself and stay on one project at a time, until it's done.
So far...I've done just that..the pillow above is a simple cable stitch..working 11 cables in all.
I used a yarn found on sale for only 1.63 per skein in white..I've haven't used it before but thought at that price I would give it a try. It's Bernat Softee Bulk Weight #5. Much to my surprise it was a wonderful yarn...one I would recommend.

For some unknown reason I manage to enlarge the first two photographs....then after that this is what I get. Even though I learn new things as they upgrade often means I'm off to learn something new...which can both be fun and frustrating.
This is a combination of a low point crocheted ripple blanket with a picot edging...which I love..it adds a simple yet detailed finished appearance.

Okay..someone has got to let me in on the secret to enlarging these photographs! The first two.. all I do  is click on the photo and a screen pop's up to let me choose the size...I'm so confused! Yet not enough to keep me from posting or for that starting another white cable pillow cover. The yarn used is Caron Simply Soft in White of course. Done in only a 5 cable pattern this time.
I am working in White's and gray thinking this may be a Christmas gift set for my daughter. Her new home is done in these shades. Thinking two white 5 cable pattern pillows, one in the 11 cable with the Afghan. Wouldn't you like to receive this set as a gift? I am hoping she'll love it too!

A Love of Life

There are so many things I love in life...how letters make words and when
combine leave a lasting impression, that touches our hearts.

How old can be something new if you just use your imagination...nothing then is really old, not even people. We too can re-invent ourselves at any age!

Even how learning a new feature...like how to enlarge a photograph on a blog...
when it doesn't seem to want to cooperate. One of my favorite things to do is learn anything and everything I can..

How I keep clicking on the photograph and it won't let me enlarge. Ah! This is one of those moments where I refer to she's, Slipped Her Stitch...oh so confused...and the first two did so well.
Okay..if you know, I need to slip the stitch back... by anyone offering help...much appreciated.
And Oh...what a beautiful photograph of old things in a gorgeous color...called Jade.

How I love the feel of a magazine in my hands...touching and turning the pages. How the writers, photographers, and creators of all these beautiful things come together so absolutely beautiful. Doesn't this magazine just scream elegance with simplicity and yes, please take me home.

So who is this Her, the one who named this new blog in her life, Slipped Her Stitch, and why?

I am AbbeyLynn....and there are so many reasons which are listed below...

1. I am a woman who loves life...even more so in my 50ties.

2. A gal who loves learning everything she can...and loves to share.

3. A knitter of 30 years, taught by my grandmother, who will show you what's in the works and photographs of things completed. A pattern or two here and there.

4.  I've been crocheting as long as knitting, my love of knitting is stronger. But, both will show up on this blog.

5. How slipping a stitch happens often in my life...many quirky moments which keep me laughing at myself. And hoping you grab a smile or a little chuckle yourself.

6. Good days, bad days, sad days, and what they mean to me and hoping they help someone who's experiencing the same. Talk about yours in the comments section, we are all here doing this together.

7. And finally...being a single empty nester, living with an adorable Cat...Ms.Bella.
